Pegasus Toy Library running costs

Pegasus Toy Library is run by a voluntary management team.  We are a non-profit organization that has to rely on grants, sponsorship and fundraising along with our membership fees to enable us to function. Our aim is to provide a low cost toy hire service to our local community. We also provide informal social contact for parents who may not spend much time with other adults on a day to day basis due to their childcare demands. Sometimes a short chat and a cup of coffee with another adult is enough to get you through the day.

We have an extensive range of both large and small toys, puzzles and games for the age group infant to six years but would love to grow our range on offer.

We have lost a lot of our members due to the earthquake which has had the knock on effect of lowering our income through fewer annual fees and hire of toys. We are trying hard to remain open as we believe the service we offer is much needed by the children and their families in the East of Christchurch. Any amount of money no matter how small would be hugely appreciated.

 Children learn through play to develop their physical, mental, perceptual and social skills.  The right play material at the right time is not only enjoyable but encourages a child’s development in the vital early years of life

I found using the Pegasus toy library a wonderful way to play with my son - he would choose toys and we would sit and play for hours - and we still have a deep bond 24 years on, and time to do a puzzle together!
